2022 Pre-Season Seminar

2022 Social Tile (4)

The annual pre-season seminar was held on Sunday 28th February at Parramatta Marist College.

The day set the tone for the year ahead with some outstanding contributions from an array of elite guest speakers. The event kicked off with an update from our Junior League President, Warren Hamilton. We were fortunate enough to have NRL referee, Dave Munro, deliver a thorough presentation on game awareness and understanding. He was then followed by an outstanding pair of speeches from both Gavin & Kasey Badger, discussing the pathway to the top and the importance of preparation & dealing with setbacks.

Tom Cambourn provided a great lesson in goal setting, whilst Paul Holland gave the members a masterclass in touch judging (with some good humour along the way). Ken McNaught delivered a very solid speech on the importance of efforts & attitudes and Daniel Luttringer gave a good lesson in concentration and managing focus throughout a game.

We were extremely lucky to be able to have both Steve Chiddy & Dave Munro take us through a live virtual bunker tour just prior to kick off of the NRLW today. This was well complemented by Ziggy Przeklasa-Adamski joining us to give an insight into the week of an NRL referee and offer some perspective & advice to our members about different experiences within refereeing.

The speeches were capped off by an impressive interactive style presentation led by Alan Shortall, as part of his Self Awareness Mechanic program. Shorty delivered an engaging lesson about resilience which will no doubt be utilised by our members both in their refereeing and away from the field.

The day concluded with some outdoor team-based games which put our members competitive spirit on show.

Thank you to all those who presented at the event - your contributions made the day a great experience for all involved.

A special thanks to Ethan Murray for organising the guest speakers and coordinating the event. Also, thank you to Daniel Luttringer for his efforts in organising the catering.
